The Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, has directed all political appointees intending to contest in the 2027 general elections to resign their appointments on or before March 31, 2026.

The directive was conveyed in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Kingsley Eze Emu.

According to the statement, the decision is in compliance with provisions of the Electoral Act and the timetable released by the Independent National Electoral Commission for party primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The state government instructed affected officials to submit their resignation letters through the Office of the Secretary to the State Government. They are also required to formally hand over their duties to the most senior career officers in their respective Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

The directive is aimed at ensuring adherence to electoral guidelines and maintaining transparency as political activities gradually build up towards the 2027 polls.
