As part of its interventionist mandate to provide infrastructure and promote human capital development, the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) has handed over a cassava farm and a fish farm to beneficiaries in Ugbodede and Madagho communities.

 

The cassava farm was allocated to members of Ugbodede Community in Warri South Local Government Area, while the fish farm was handed over to beneficiaries in Madagho Community in Warri South West Local Government Area.

 

Speaking during the handover at the Commission’s headquarters, the Executive Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, Pst. Efele Eyewuoma Nicholas, urged the beneficiaries to make effective use of the opportunity.

 He emphasized that the initiative was designed not only to empower individuals economically but also to contribute to the overall development of their respective communities.

The beneficiaries from Ugbodede Community who will manage the cassava farm include Ikanone Ofeoeitse, Oritsema Kingsway, and Anirejuoritse Bojor.

Similarly, beneficiaries from Madagho Community assigned to the fish farm include Elliot Tonwe, Solomon Uwawah, and Bemigho Pade Uwan.

 

In their separate remarks, the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to DESOPADEC for the initiative, describing it as a valuable economic investment in their communities.

They pledged to manage and sustain the farms effectively, assuring that the projects would be utilized to improve livelihoods and contribute positively to community development.

 

The initiative forms part of DESOPADEC’s broader efforts to empower residents of oil-producing communities through sustainable economic programmes.
