Akon, the Senegalese-American singer, has reflected on his past relationships, saying his life was easier when he had multiple women around.

 

The 53-year-old record producer spoke about his love life during a recent appearance on The Shade Room.

 

Akon explained that his earlier romantic lifestyle came with ease and excitement, feelings he no longer experiences in monogamy.

 

“My life was very much easier when I had multiple women surrounding me, but me being with just one woman isn’t just exciting,” he said.

 

 

When asked about his current relationship status and how many women he is involved with, the singer declined to give details.

 

“I plead the fifth; it will be incriminating to answer,” he said.

 

In September 2025, Tomeka Thiam, Akon’s wife, filed for divorce after 28 years of marriage. She cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split. The union produced a girl named Journey.

 

 

The singer, whose real name is Aliaune Badara Thiam, has been publicly open about his belief in polygamy. In a 2022 interview on The Zeze Mills Show, Akon confirmed he is the father of nine children.

 

Reports and allegations from women linked to him — including Rozina Negusei, Amirror, and Tricia Ann Thiam — suggest he has multiple wives.

 

In 2024, Amirror revealed that their paths crossed in 2012 through a mutual producer while working on music projects and singles.

 

She described the encounter as the start of a meaningful connection. She said Akon signed her to his record label Konvict Kulture in 2018.

 

Amirror said joining the label marked the beginning of their professional collaboration.

 

Akon recently claimed that men are not naturally wired to be committed to one romantic partner.
