Cubana Chief Priest loses bid for APC reps ticket in Imo

Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has lost the All Progressives Congress primary election for a seat in the House of Representatives.

Cubana was vying for APC’s ticket for Orsu/Orlu/Oru East federal constituency seat in the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Cubana Chief Priest polled only 14 votes to lose to Canice More Nwachukwu, the incumbent for the constituency. Nwachukwu is serving his second term.

He lost the primary despite his visibility and support for President Bola Tinubu, and being appointed as Imo State director of City Boy Movement, the youth-focused support group for Tinubu’s re-election ahead of the 2027 election.

Reacting in a video circulating online, the businessman expressed disappointment over the outcome and accused community elders of betraying his trust.

“I’m a hustler, and I didn’t regret trying to contest for a position. My only regret was trusting the elders in the community,” he said.

“I know how much I gave them, but only 14 people voted for me in the primary.”
