Ned Nwoko Rejects APC Delta North Primary Result, Insists Victory Over Okowa

The camp of Senator Ned Nwoko has rejected the outcome of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Delta North senatorial primary, insisting that the incumbent lawmaker — not former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa — won the exercise conducted on May 18.

Speaking on behalf of the senator, Nwoko’s legal adviser, Chris Okobah, described the primary as flawed and lacking credibility, alleging that the process was manipulated before delegates and party members could participate.

According to Okobah, there was no transparent voting process or genuine collation of results during the exercise. He claimed that the outcome had already been predetermined before voting commenced.

“There was no transparent voting, no genuine collection. Results were written the night long before people arrived to exercise their democratic rights,” Okobah stated.

The legal adviser further maintained that Senator Nwoko secured over 123,000 votes in the primary, while Okowa polled about 5,000 votes — figures he said sharply contradict the officially declared result.

The APC had announced Okowa as the winner of the primary with 113,309 votes, while Nwoko was said to have scored 2,612 votes.

Nwoko’s camp has vowed to challenge the declared outcome, raising concerns over the credibility of the primary and deepening tensions within the party ahead of the next election cycle.
