Drama At UCH Ibadan As Man Is Caught With Stolen Phone, Doctors’ ATM Cards

At the University College Hospital, Ibadan, a suspected thief was apprehended after allegedly stealing a mobile phone within the hospital premises, in an incident that quickly drew attention from staff and visitors.

According to eyewitness accounts, the suspect was seen walking past the Oral Surgery Clinic shortly before the theft occurred. Moments later, distress calls of “Ole!” were heard from inside the facility, prompting people nearby to respond immediately. The individual was reportedly identified as the same person earlier seen in the area and was swiftly confronted.

The stolen mobile phone was recovered on the spot from the suspect, who was subsequently restrained by individuals at the scene before being taken into custody.

Further inspection of his belongings allegedly uncovered multiple ATM cards belonging to hospital staff, some of which had been reported missing over a period of time. This discovery has raised fresh concerns among hospital workers, who also claim that several other valuables—including mobile phones, laptops, and even motorcycles—have gone missing within the facility in recent weeks.

Staff members further alleged that the suspect may not be a first-time offender, noting that internal reports of repeated thefts had been ongoing prior to his arrest. Authorities are expected to continue investigations into the incident and the broader pattern of missing items within the hospital.
