The Atlas Lions of Morocco have clinched their ticket to the quarterfinals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after beating co-hosts Canada 3-0 on Saturday night.

Morocco found their breakthrough five minutes into the second half after a scrappy opening period, with Azzedine Ounahi firing home from Achraf Hakimi’s clever cut-back free-kick as Canada’s defence failed to react.

Ounahi grabbed his brace with eight minutes remaining, calmly finishing a swift counterattack to put the result beyond doubt.

The Atlas Lions added further gloss to the scoreline in stoppage time when Soufiane Rahimi slotted the ball beneath goalkeeper Maxime Crepeau.

Despite the convincing scoreline, Canada had made the brighter start in Texas and created the better early chances but were unable to capitalise before Morocco took control of the contest.

But Morocco progress, as they move one win away from equalling their historic run to the semi-finals at the 2022 World Cup.

Morocco will now take on the winners of France vs Paraguay clash which takes place later on Saturday night.
