Kaduna state Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has announced the nomination of the Executive Chairman of the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS), Mr. Jerry Adams, as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election.

The governor said the decision followed “wide consultations, deep reflection and earnest prayers,” describing it as a reaffirmation of his administration’s commitment to inclusion, justice, fairness and equity.

In a statement announcing the choice, Sani said the nomination was not merely about selecting a deputy governorship candidate but about reinforcing the values that have guided his administration since assuming office in May 2023.

“This decision is far greater than the selection of a deputy governorship candidate. It is a reaffirmation of the values that have guided our administration since I took the oath of office on May 29, 2023; the values of inclusion, justice, fairness, equity and the unwavering conviction that every citizen of Kaduna State deserves a genuine sense of belonging,” he said.

The governor noted that Kaduna’s diversity remained one of its greatest strengths, stressing that his administration had deliberately pursued policies aimed at promoting inclusion, dialogue and equitable development across all parts of the state.

According to him, investments in roads, healthcare, education, water supply, agriculture, rural development and social protection had been spread across the 23 local government areas to ensure no community was left behind.

“Our history has taught us difficult lessons about the heavy cost of division, mistrust and exclusion. Yet it has also shown us that when we choose dialogue over discord, inclusion over alienation, and justice over prejudice, our people achieve extraordinary things together,” he stated.

Sani said his administration had worked with traditional rulers, religious leaders, women and youth groups to strengthen peace and restore confidence in government, adding that improved security had enabled farmers to return to their farms and businesses to expand.

Explaining the choice of Adams, the governor described him as an accomplished public servant, tax administrator and institution builder who had transformed KADIRS into one of the country’s leading revenue agencies.

He credited Adams’ leadership with strengthening the state’s fiscal capacity through innovation, transparency and professionalism, saying the improved revenue profile had enabled government to invest more in critical sectors.

“Jerry Adams is an accomplished public servant, an outstanding tax administrator and an institution builder whose leadership has transformed the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service into one of Nigeria’s most respected revenue agencies,” the governor said.

He added that beyond his professional achievements, Adams had consistently demonstrated integrity, humility and commitment to peace, reconciliation and inclusive governance.

“His emergence reflects our continuing determination to build a Kaduna where merit, competence and character remain the true qualifications for leadership,” Sani said.

The governor urged residents to view the development beyond religious, ethnic and geographical considerations, insisting that the focus should remain on building a united, peaceful and prosperous Kaduna State where every citizen has a sense of belonging.

“As we look towards 2027, I invite every son and daughter of Kaduna State to see this moment not through the narrow prism of religion, ethnicity or geography, but through the broader vision of the Kaduna we are building together,” he said.

Sani expressed optimism that the foundation laid by his administration would enable the state to become more united, secure, just and prosperous in the years ahead.
