No fewer than 3,000 civil servants in Kaduna state have commenced the 2026 confirmation examination, a mandatory requirement for newly recruited workers seeking permanent appointment in the state civil service.
The examination, which began at the ICT Centre, Kaduna State University (KASU), main campus, is being conducted by the Office of the Head of Service in collaboration with Kumesh Integrated Concept Ltd.
Speaking at the opening of the exercise, the Head of Service, Mrs Jummai Bako, said the examination was compulsory for newly recruited civil servants and would determine their confirmation into the state’s permanent workforce.
She explained that successful candidates would become eligible for career benefits, including leave of absence, transfer of service and in-service training.
“Once a civil servant is confirmed, they become eligible to enjoy leave of absence, transfer of service and even in-service training.
“That is why it is very important for every civil servant recruited into the Kaduna State Civil Service to sit for the confirmation examination,” she said.
Bako said the examination covers key areas of public service, including administration, finance, law, medical practice and current affairs relating to Kaduna State and the country.
She added that the questions were tailored to different professional cadres, including administrative, legal and medical personnel.
According to her, the exercise covers workers in ministries, departments, agencies and the 23 local government areas of the state, excluding tertiary institutions.
The Head of Service assured candidates who fail the examination that they would have another opportunity to retake it in 2027.
“As usual, some candidates may not pass the examination. Those who fail this year’s exercise will be given another opportunity to rewrite it in 2027,” she said.
She urged participants to put in their best, noting that confirmation marks an important milestone in a civil servant’s career.
Bako also commended Governor Uba Sani for approving funds for the exercise and for prioritising the welfare of civil servants through prompt salary payments and other reforms.
“His Excellency has done a lot for civil servants. On behalf of the workforce, I assure him that we will continue to give our best in implementing government policies because the civil service remains the engine room of government,” she said.
