The Premier League has highlighted 12 of the greatest teenage talents in its history, inviting fans to vote for the competition’s greatest-ever wonderkid after profiling players who made an impact before turning 20.

Our correspondent reports that the list was obtained from a feature on the EPL website on Wednesday.

The list features Nicolas Anelka, Gareth Bale, Cesc Fabregas, Phil Foden, Robbie Fowler, Steven Gerrard, Michael Owen, Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, Bukayo Saka, Marcus Rashford, and Junior Kroupi.

Anelka, Fabregas, Bale

1. Anelka broke into Arsenal’s first team at 18, helped the Gunners win the Premier League and FA Cup double, and later won the UEFA Champions League with Real Madrid before returning to England to lift another league title, the Golden Boot and two FA Cups with Chelsea.

2. Bale made his Southampton debut at 16 before joining Tottenham Hotspur, where he developed from left-back into one of the Premier League’s standout attacking players before completing a then world-record move to Real Madrid.

3. Fabregas became Arsenal’s youngest-ever player and goalscorer before those records were later broken by Max Dowman.

The Spaniard established himself as a first-team regular before turning 18, later winning league titles with Barcelona and Chelsea as well as the FIFA World Cup and two UEFA European Championships with Spain.

Fowler, Gerrard, Foden

4. Foden debuted for Manchester City at 17 and won the Premier League title in his first season.

He has since claimed six league titles, two PFA Young Player of the Year awards and was part of City’s Treble-winning side in 2022/23.

5. Liverpool legend Fowler became a prolific goalscorer after making his debut at 18, producing consecutive 30-goal seasons and finishing with 163 Premier League goals for the Reds.

6. Gerrard also debuted for Liverpool at 18, becoming the heartbeat of the club’s midfield before winning the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Cup, two FA Cups and three League Cups during a 17-year career at Anfield.

Ronaldo, Owen, Rooney

7. Ronaldo arrived at Manchester United from Sporting Lisbon for a then-record fee for a teenager, won the FA Cup in his first season and later helped the club secure three successive Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League before collecting the first of his five Ballon d’Or awards.

8. Rooney announced himself with a spectacular goal for Everton against Arsenal at 16 and went on to become only the third player to surpass 200 Premier League goals, winning multiple major honours with Manchester United.

9. Owen scored on his Liverpool debut aged 17, became the club’s youngest-ever goalscorer and won back-to-back Premier League Golden Boots before claiming the Ballon d’Or.

Saka, Rashford, Kroupi

10. Saka progressed through Arsenal’s academy before making his senior debut at 17.

He became a key figure under Mikel Arteta and helped Arsenal end a 22-year wait for the Premier League title in the 2025/26 season.

11. Rashford burst onto the scene at Manchester United aged 18, scoring twice on his Europa League debut before netting another brace against Arsenal three days later.

He ended his breakthrough campaign with the FA Cup and later helped the club win the League Cup and Europa League double.

12. Kroupi, meanwhile, became the first teenager in more than two decades to score 10 goals in his debut Premier League season.

The AFC Bournemouth forward finished the 2025/26 campaign with 13 league goals, setting a new record for a teenage debutant and surpassing the previous mark jointly held by Fowler and Robbie Keane.
