The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship candidate in Adamawa State, Chief Maurice Vunobolki has challenged other governorship candidates in the State to a
public debate ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Speaking during the official unveiling of the PDP Deputy Governorship Candidate and the Director-General of the party’s 2027 Governorship Campaign Council, Vunobolki challenged alongside their respective running mates from other political parties to come out for the debate.

He however maintained that the public debate ahead of the 2027 governorship elections should be best described as the beginning of a renewed political movement aimed at reclaiming power in Adamawa State.

The party in their unanimous agreement unveiled Alhaji Abubakar Mahmud Wambai (Madakin Mubi) as its Deputy Governorship Candidate, while Adamu Hammantukur Ribadu, was announced as the Director-General of the party’s 2027 Governorship Campaign Council.

Addressing party stakeholders as well as supporters, Vunobolki expressed confidence in the strength of the PDP team, insisting that no other political party in the state possesses a combination of leadership, experience, credibility and grassroots appeal comparable to that of the PDP.

According to him, the party has assembled individuals with proven records in public service, administration, education and political leadership, making them the most qualified team to lead Adamawa State.

“I challenge every governorship candidate and their running mate to a public debate where we can present our vision, achievements, competence and plans for the people of the State so that the electorate should decide who is best prepared to govern”, Vunobolki boasted.

He noted that democracy thrives on accountability and issue-based campaigns rather than personal attacks, adding that the proposed debate would provide Adamawa residents with an opportunity to assess the capacity, experience and policy direction of each candidate.

He described his running mate, Alhaji Abubakar Mahmud Wambai, as a distinguished statesman, respected traditional title holder, seasoned administrator, accomplished educationist and former federal lawmaker whose wealth of experience would complement his administration.

On his Campaign Director-General Adamu Hammantukur Ribadu, he admired his vast experience in governance and political strategy, expressing confidence that the campaign structure would mobilise support across the state’s 21 local government areas.

Vunobolki maintained that the PDP’s leadership team combines experience, pedigree, educational qualifications, grassroots mobilisation and national exposure, qualities he said distinguish the party from its competitors.

He further declared that the PDP remains determined to reclaim Government House in 2027, expressing optimism that the party’s programmes and leadership credentials would earn the confidence of Adamawa voters.

Party supporters at the event described the unveiling as a significant milestone in the PDP’s preparations for the 2027 governorship election.
