Director, Capacity Development and Implementation Bureau (CDI), at the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), Fabio Rabbani, has lauded the Director-General Civil Aviation (DGCA), Capt. Chris Najomo, for prioritising staff training in partnership with ICAO, International Air Transport Association (IATA), and other world-class capacity development institutes.
Mr Rabbani made the commendation on the sidelines of the 11th edition of ICAO Africa-Indian Ocean (AFI) Aviation Week held in Cairo, Egypt between 27 and 31 July.
He stated that because of this, the NCAA is a leading CAA on the continent, and the CDI looks forward to further collaborations that will strengthen the civil aviation regulatory agency.

Responding, Capt. Chris Najomo reaffirmed his commitment to making the NCAA better than he met it following his appointment as DGCA.
Capt. Najomo said he has widened the training net from officers on Grade Level 14 and above to capture staffers from Level 10.
“We need to catch them young and train them in order to make the Authority better equipped to carry out its oversight functions,” the DGCA said.
