Cortney Wilson, 51, of South Holland was arrested at 3:12 a.m. on July 29 in the 1100 block of North Harding Avenue approximately 30 minutes after he allegedly took a vehicle at gunpoint from a 50-year-old man in the 4200 block of West Chicago Avenue in Humboldt Park. Wilson also had two active warrants including an out-of-state fugitive warrant at the time of his arrest. A detention hearing is scheduled for July 30 at Leighton Criminal Courthouse.

A South Holland man who had two active warrants including an out-of-state fugitive warrant was arrested in the early morning hours of July 29 after allegedly carjacking a man at gunpoint in Humboldt Park and was found still in the area 30 minutes later.

At approximately 2:42 a.m. on July 29 Cortney Wilson, 51, allegedly took a vehicle at gunpoint from a 50-year-old male victim in the 4200 block of West Chicago Avenue in the 11th District according to Chicago Police.

Officers located and arrested Wilson approximately 30 minutes later at 3:12 a.m. in the 1100 block of North Harding Avenue.

The Charges

Wilson faces one felony count of Aggravated Vehicular Hijacking with a Firearm. He also had two active issuances of warrant and a fugitive from justice out-of-state warrant at the time of his arrest according to Chicago Police.

A detention hearing for Wilson is scheduled for July 30, 2026, at the George N. Leighton Criminal Courthouse at 2600 South California Avenue.

And most recently on June 22, 2026 Wilson was arrested on multiple charges including two issuances of warrant, criminal trespass to a vehicle, theft, and domestic battery.

He was released from that June 22 arrest on June 24, 2026 just 35 days before the alleged carjacking.

The 4200 block of West Chicago Avenue sits in Chicago’s Humboldt Park neighborhood within the 11th District on the West Side.
