The Zamfara State Ministry of Humanitarian and Relief Matters successfully convened the Humanitarian Sector Monthly Coordination Meeting which encompasses humanitarian partners, development organisations, and key stakeholders to review humanitarian interventions, strengthen collaboration, and improve coordination across the state.

The meeting was held on Thursday with the objectives of presenting the July 2026 Humanitarian Situation Report by the Ministry of Humanitarian and Relief Matters, sharing updates on humanitarian partners’ activities carried out during the month under review, and reinforcing coordination mechanisms to ensure effective, timely, and impactful humanitarian responses across Zamfara State.

Delivering the opening remarks, the Commissioner for Humanitarian and Relief Matters, Salisu Musa Tsafe, represented by the Acting Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Ummulkhairi Abubakar Usman, has commended humanitarian partners for their unwavering commitment to supporting vulnerable populations affected by insecurity and other humanitarian challenges in the state.

Ummulkhairi Usman emphasised the importance of sustained collaboration, timely information sharing, and coordinated planning among government institutions and humanitarian actors; noting that effective coordination remains essential for avoiding duplication of efforts, identifying critical gaps, and ensuring that humanitarian assistance reaches those most in need.

She also reaffirmed the Zamfara State Government’s commitment to providing an enabling environment for humanitarian operations and strengthening partnerships that improve the welfare of affected communities.

During the meeting, the Ministry presented the July 2026 Humanitarian Situation Report, highlighting the current humanitarian situation across the state, emerging needs, ongoing government interventions, and priority areas requiring collective action.

On their sides, humanitarian partners also presented updates on their sectoral activities, achievements, challenges, and planned interventions, providing a comprehensive overview of ongoing humanitarian efforts across Zamfara State.

Also speaking, the representative of the Nigeria INGO Forum, Musa Baba, commended the Zamfara State Ministry of Humanitarian and Relief Matters for its leadership in convening regular coordination meetings that promote information sharing, collaboration, and accountability among humanitarian actors.

Baba further reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria INGO Forum and its member organizations to continue working closely with the state government and other stakeholders to deliver coordinated, efficient, and people-centered humanitarian assistance.

Participants engaged in constructive discussions on strengthening inter-agency collaboration, enhancing data sharing, improving response planning, addressing operational challenges, and identifying opportunities for joint interventions to better serve affected communities throughout Zamfara State.
