Ikeja Club has announced plans to commemorate its 60th anniversary with a series of activities, including a medical outreach aimed at members of the public.
The club disclosed this during a press conference held at the Ikeja Club House, Lagos, on Friday, as part of activities to herald the anniversary celebration.
The Club President, Musediq Adeleke, said the programme would feature thanksgiving services, a public lecture, health outreach, charity visits, sporting activities, and a grand finale.
He said the anniversary would provide an opportunity for the club to reflect on its history, celebrate its achievements, and renew its commitment to service and community development.
“Sixty years ago, a group of visionary gentlemen, three of them came together with a noble idea: to establish a club that would promote friendship, integrity, service, fellowship, and community development,” Adeleke said.
He added that the anniversary lecture, themed ‘Urban Club and City Development,’ was chosen to highlight the role of social institutions in promoting civic values and contributing to urban growth.
“Our anniversary celebration is not merely a social event; it is an opportunity to reflect on our journey, to honour our heritage, and to recommit ourselves to the future,” he said.
Adeleke said the club would continue to uphold values of excellence, responsible citizenship, and service to humanity.
The Vice President of the club, Abayomi Omoniyi, said the organisation had continued to impact communities through its corporate social responsibility initiatives.
“Even as part of this programme, we have other CSR initiatives, which we have extended to not only members of the Ikeja Club but the public at large,” Omoniyi said.
The event was attended by other executives of the club, who highlighted its contributions to leadership development, character building, and sporting activities since its establishment in 1966.
