Senator Lawal Adamu Usman, popularly known as Mr. LA, has once again proven that the only thing more vacant than his legislative record is his ridiculous task to discredit the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. In a desperate bid to remain relevant, our senator took to social media to accuse the Tinubu government of failing to complete a single project it initiated. Dear Senator, this is not just false, it is a spectacular display of hypocrisy from a man whose own constituency can’t point to a single project he has brought to his senatorial district in three years of “service.”

Let us begin with the facts; something clearly foreign to Mr. LA. President Tinubu’s administration has not only initiated but completed numerous landmark projects across the nation. Just recently, the Federal Capital Territory Administration confirmed that 221 kilometres of the 317 kilometres of roads awarded across the satellite towns have been completed since May 2023, with the remaining 96 kilometres progressing steadily. The Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike, proudly noted that the administration inaugurated 31 projects in 28 days. “This has never happened in the history of the administration of this country”. Perhaps Senator LA was too busy posting on Facebook to notice.

The Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX) stands as a testament to this administration’s commitment. President Tinubu inaugurated the first phase from Villa Roundabout to Ring Road I Junction in 2024, commissioned the 15-kilometre left hand service carriageway in 2025, and has now completed the main carriageways stretching from Ring Road I to Ring Road II. The president declared: “The era of uncompleted projects in the FCT and Nigeria is gone. We shall complete what we started and even finish projects we inherited”. 

Beyond the FCT, the Tinubu administration has launched four transformative legacy road projects: the 750-kilometre Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway (with Section I commissioned in May 2025), the 1,068-kilometre Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway, the 477-kilometre Trans-Saharan Highway, and the 422-kilometre Akwanga, Jos, Bauchi, Gombe Expressway. These are not mere promises; they are projects on the ground, with over 52% of road projects located in the North and 48% in the South. The North-west alone has received over N5.97 trillion in capital project approvals representing over 40% of all approvals. This includes the Abuja, Kaduna, Kano Road dualisation, the Kaduna-Kano light rail project (N100 billion secured), and the revived 255MW Kaduna Power Plant.

Senator LA, you sit in the Senate and claim the Kaduna-Kano rail project is not progressing? The administration has advanced the Kano-Maradi rail project from 5% to 67% completion. The Sokoto, Gusau, Funtua, Zaria Road (275km dualised at N824 billion) and the Abuja, Kaduna, Kano Road (350km dualised at N764 billion) are ongoing. Even your own Kaduna Central is not left out, 39km of work have already been completed on different sections of the Abuja, Kaduna, Kano highway.

But here is the irony that makes your accusation laughable, Senator. You seem to believe that completing a project is the only measure of credit. What about initiation? What about having the vision to conceptualise and commence projects that previous administrations abandoned? President Tinubu, upon assuming office, directed priority attention to 2,694 inherited projects across the geopolitical zones. He is finishing what others started AND initiating new ones.

Now, let us talk about your own backyard, Mr. LA. You have been representing Kaduna Central for three years. Three years. And what do we have to show for it? The Kaduna Central Elders Forum has demanded your recall, citing “poor performance and weak engagement with constituents”. A group described you as “the worst senator ever elected from the zone by the people since the return to democracy in 1999”. Women’s advocacy groups labelled you “the worst performing representative Kaduna Central has ever had”. These are not political opponents, these are the very people you swore to serve.

You claim to have attracted development projects, yet when pressed, you list a frivolous and deceptive empowerment, which will not be measured with a single project done by a local government chairman in Kaduna state. Ironically, you have the audacity to belittle the infrastructural revolution under the Tinubu government. Can you show us a 1 kilometre road in any part of Kaduna central district as your constituency project? What about renovating a single hospital in any of the villages? What about schools? Meanwhile, President Tinubu commissioned the Institutes of Vocational Training, a 300-bed specialist hospital, and 100 Compressed Natural Gas buses in Kaduna. You are busy posting on Facebook; he is busy building.

Senator LA, you are a disgrace to the youth of this nation. You represent a generation that demands accountability, yet you offer only excuses. You criticise a president who has delivered more in three years than you have in your entire political career. You accused him of not completing projects while you cannot point to a single constituency project initiated, let alone completed in your own district. The height of insensitivity is a man who has failed his people pointing fingers at a man who is rebuilding a nation.

President Tinubu understands that leadership is not about occupying space, it is about leaving a legacy. He has come to work for Nigeria. You, Senator, have come to occupy a seat, collect a salary, and post self serving statements on social media. Your recent outburst is a transparent attempt to bury your ineptitude and misrepresentation under a smokescreen of baseless criticism.

A word is enough for the wise, Senator. Before you next open your mouth to criticise a president who is actually working, look at your own record, or the lack of one. The people of Kaduna Central are watching, and they are not impressed.
