The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Barrister Nyesom Wike, has said Real Estate Developers were capitalising on road infrastructure, with new building projects rapidly springing up on new road corridors across the FCT.

Wike stated this Friday, after inspecting the ongoing construction of access road to FCT Fire Service Station (Arterial Road SI) in Kaura District, from Ring Road II to Oladipo Diya Way, in Gaduwa District.

The project included the construction of one collector road, two Important Local Streets and a minor access road.

The minister also highlighted the positive socio-economic ripple effect of the delivery of new road infrastructure, saying “the surge in development is successfully creating jobs for the youth.”

Wike emphasised the strategic importance of the access road, adding that its completion would fundamentally transform the area’s landscape and boost the local economy.

He expressed satisfaction with the pace of work, noting the significant progress made since his last visit, particularly highlighting the completion of the bridge structure.

While the first segment of the road project successfully connects to the newly completed bridge, the minister revealed that he had directed the contractor to extend the scope of the work to deliver maximum benefit to residents.

He said, “The first segment of this road is building the bridge that leads to that point, but we have told them that it should be extended to Oladipo Diya Way. 

“I have put big pressure on them that it will be very appropriate to also include the extensions so that it will be meaningful.”

Despite the push for an extension, Wike gave the assurance that the construction company remained confident in meeting the December timeline. 

“They are still insisting that by December they will hand over the project. What I do not know is if the extension will be included.

“This project will completely alter and improve the topography and landscape of the area once fully completed,” he added.

To ensure the project maintains its rapid momentum, the minister promised immediate administrative action regarding funding. 

“We are happy with the job they have carried out. We are going back to see that payments are made to them so they can expedite action. 

“We believe that the company will do their best to meet up with the time,” he said.
