The suspects arrested over the brutal mob killing of University of Jos graduate and model, Ibrahim Pilasar Mbaya, popularly known as Ibee, have reportedly confessed to their roles in the incident during police interrogation. One of the suspects, Emmanuel Newyear, admitted striking Mbaya three times with a wooden plank, claiming he believed the victim was withholding information about a missing iPhone 12.

According to the Plateau State Police Command, Mbaya was accused of stealing the phone before he was allegedly tortured by a group of young men. Despite repeated searches based on locations the suspects claimed Mbaya mentioned, the missing phone was never recovered.

Police said the suspects have been arrested and are assisting investigators as the case progresses. The tragic incident, which occurred on July 26, sparked nationwide outrage after videos of the prolonged assault circulated on social media, prompting widespread calls for justice.

The Plateau State Police Command has assured the public that those responsible will face the full weight of the law as investigations continue.
