Former Imo State governorship candidate, Uche Nwosu, has received the City of East Orange’s Award for Outstanding Leadership and Human Capacity Development in New Jersey, United States.

Nwosu, a former Chief of Staff to ex-Imo Governor Rochas Okorocha and President of the Ugwumba Centre for Leadership Development in Africa (UCLA), disclosed this in a statement on Friday.

He said the Mayor of East Orange, Ted Green, presented the award during a meeting that also marked the inauguration of a strategic partnership between the city and the Ugwumba Centre.

According to Nwosu, the collaboration will focus on leadership development, human capacity building and sustainable development through programmes designed to benefit communities in both Nigeria and the United States.

Expressing gratitude for the recognition, Nwosu thanked Green for the honour and the warm reception accorded to his delegation.

“I am deeply humbled to receive the City of East Orange’s Award for Outstanding Leadership and Human Capacity Development and to be decorated with the official City Pin by Mayor Ted Green.

“I sincerely appreciate this recognition and the hospitality extended to my team. Together, we are building bridges that will create lasting opportunities and strengthen the future of our communities,” he said.

Nwosu also highlighted the achievements of the Ugwumba Centre for Leadership Development in Africa, stating that the organisation had empowered more than 10,000 youths and 5,000 women through skills acquisition programmes, mentorship and seed capital support.

He reaffirmed the centre’s commitment to expanding strategic partnerships that promote inclusive development, strengthen leadership capacity and create more opportunities for young people across Africa.
