Former Deputy Campaign Manager of the Obi/Datti Presidential Campaign, Comrade Isaac Balami, on Friday led a group of Obidient leaders and professionals to a meeting with Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in Abuja.

At the meeting, they declared support for the president ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Balami, who joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) after the 2023 elections, citing what he called a lack of purposeful leadership in the Labour Party, formally presented the group’s structure to the APC.

The delegation included leaders of Obidient groups from the Middle Belt and North-Central, social media influencers, representatives of about 100 support groups nationwide, professional associations, journalists, religious leaders, and Igbo Obidient figures from both the North and South-East.

In his remarks, Balami said it had been three years since he left the Labour Party with his political structure.

He stated that the group had remained patient but now believed it was time to work for the APC and support President Tinubu’s re-election bid.

“These are the people who delivered more than six million votes to Peter Obi in the 2023 presidential election. Today, they have resolved to double that figure and work towards delivering 12 million votes to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Balami said.

He added that the participants represented active political groups from different parts of the country who had previously contributed to the Obidient Movement but felt their interests were neither recognised nor protected.

Several speakers at the meeting alleged neglect and unfair treatment within the movement, saying they had made personal sacrifices abandoning families, spending personal resources, and risking their health without receiving recognition.

Seyi Tinubu welcomed the group into the APC and the Renewed Hope Movement. He thanked them for their support and for recognising the achievements of the Tinubu administration.

“Our movement is inclusive, and everyone will be treated fairly. You have joined us because you believe in building a better Nigeria,” he said.

He also highlighted government initiatives including infrastructure development, the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), economic reforms, the removal of fuel subsidy, and the new national minimum wage.

The visitors pledged to return to their communities and mobilise support for the APC.
