The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has displayed the academic credentials, personal particulars and supporting documents of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and his running mate, Rotimi Amaechi, ahead of the 2027 general election.

The documents were made available to the public on Saturday in compliance with Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act, 2026, which mandates the commission to publish the credentials and personal particulars of candidates within 21 days of receiving their nomination forms.

According to INEC, the displayed documents are contained in Form EC9 and include the academic qualifications, personal details and affidavits submitted by candidates sponsored by political parties.

“Form EC9 contains the credentials, personal particulars and affidavits submitted by candidates sponsored by political parties,” the commission stated.

The public display of Atiku and Amaechi’s documents comes ahead of the commencement of campaigns for the 2027 presidential election, scheduled to begin on August 19, in line with INEC’s revised election timetable.

The exercise enables members of the public to scrutinise the documents submitted by candidates and, where necessary, seek certified true copies or pursue legal action in cases involving alleged false declarations or forged credentials, as provided under the Electoral Act.
