The Nigeria Police Force, Zone 10 Command Headquarters, Sokoto, says the 24th Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the zone, AIG Gyogon Augustine Grimah, has gloriously bowed out of the Force on 1st August, 2026, after 35 years of meritorious service.

In a statement issued on Sunday by ASP Faruk A. Ambursa, Zonal PPRO, the Command said: “The Command Headquarters wishes to inform members of the public, sister security agencies, and the media that the 24th Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 10, AIG Gyogon Augustine Grimah, has gloriously bowed out of the Nigeria Police Force on 1st August, 2026.”

In his farewell address to officers and men of the Command, the retiring AIG expressed profound gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, for the strategic support enjoyed during his tour of duty.

He also extended his deepest appreciation to the governments and good people of Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara States for their unwavering partnership and cooperation.

The statement noted that his dynamic and unblemished service to the nation formally concluded on 1st August, 2026, marking the end of an illustrious and highly impactful career in policing.

Throughout his tenure at the helm of Zone 10, AIG Grimah remained a staunch advocate of professional discipline, strict adherence to human rights, and robust inter-agency synergy.

His leadership successfully reduced crime rates within the zone, fostered community policing, and elevated the operational readiness of officers under his supervision.

As he concludes this distinguished phase of his policing career, AIG Gyogon Augustine Grimah leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire present and future generations of police officers.

His remarkable journey stands as a shining example of patriotism, resilience, and faithful service to the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

On this special occasion, we celebrate not only his outstanding achievements but also the values he embodied throughout his years in service.

AIG Grimah, a native of Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and a Master’s degree in Public Administration.

He was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet ASP in May 1992 and underwent professional training at the Police Academy Annex, Kaduna.

Throughout his illustrious career, AIG Grimah served in several operational, investigative, administrative, and strategic leadership positions.

His notable appointments include:Patrol and Guard (P&G) Operations, Enugu State Command,Unit Commander and later 2i/C Squadron Commander, 27 PMF, Katsina State.

Staff Officer, Federal Operations, Force Headquarters, Abuja,Divisional Police Officer, Sabon Gari Division, Katsina State,Investigator, Special Fraud Unit, FCID, Abuja,Commandant, Police Secondary School, Calabar, Commandant, Police Boys Secondary School, Mani, Katsina State.

Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Training and Development, Katsina State Command,ACP, X-Squad, FCID, Abuja,ACP, State Criminal Investigation Department, Plateau State Command.

He was later promoted to Deputy Commissioner of Police and served as Force Provost Marshal, DC CID Enugu State Command, and DC Operations, Ekiti State Command.

He was subsequently promoted to Assistant Inspector-General of Police and deployed to oversee Zone 10 Police Command Headquarters, Sokoto, covering Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara States.

AIG Grimah also attended the Combat Operations Course, Gwoza Camp, Borno State; Citizenship and Leadership Training, Shere Hills, Jos; Junior Command Course and Intermediate Command Course at the Staff College, Jos; as well as the Strategic Leadership Command Course and UN Peacekeeping Courses.

He participated in several seminars and workshops both within and outside the country.
