Nollywood actor Shawn Faqua‘s wife, Dr. Sharon Ifunanya Maduekwe, popularly known as Akwa Ugoo, has spoken up regarding her courtship journey, revealing some of the challenges they faced.

While speaking during an interview, Ifunanya explained that Shawn’s honesty and deep Christian values initially made her suspicious. She added that he insisted they would not have sex before marriage and even refused to allow her visit his house alone, saying he had to seek the Holy Spirit’s direction before agreeing.

Ifunanya revealed that his restrictions made her think he was hiding another woman, noting that she struggled to believe he was genuinely being truthful because of experiences from her previous relationship.

“When I first started dating him, he was like we can’t have sex till marriage. He also said I couldn’t come to his house because we’d be alone. One day, when my hotel was fully booked, I asked if I could stay over. He said he needed to ask the Holy Spirit first. I told my friends, ‘This guy is not honest. I know he’s hiding something’,” she stated.
