Nigeria’s Super Falcons will be without Oluwatosin Demehin and Jennifer Echegini for their decisive final Group C match against Egypt at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The Confederation of African Football suspended both players following Nigeria’s hard-fought 1-0 victory over Zambia on Saturday.

Demehin received a straight red card in the 40th minute after bringing down Zambia captain Barbra Banda as the forward raced through on goal.

The defender will consequently serve a one-match suspension against Egypt.

Echegini will also miss the encounter after receiving her second yellow card of the tournament during the match against Zambia, triggering an automatic one-game suspension under CAF disciplinary regulations.

Nigeria’s victory over Zambia revived the team’s qualification hopes following an unexpected defeat to Malawi earlier in the competition.

The nine-time African champions must now negotiate the crucial encounter against Egypt without two important members of the squad, with a place in the knockout stage at stake.
