The World Bank Environmental and Social (E&S) Specialists have expressed satisfaction with the level of safety compliance, environmental safeguards and quality of work on key Bauchi ACReSAL intervention projects during a technical mission to the state.

The team inspected the Tsohon Kamfani–Gwallagan Mayaki flood and gully erosion control project, the integrated water scheme at Malmo, and the 24-kilometre roadside plantation stretching from Awalah Roundabout to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport.

The specialists also visited project sites at the Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic and the College of Agriculture, where they commended contractors for adhering to environmental and social safeguard standards.

According to the team, the mission was aimed at assessing compliance with environmental and social safeguards, reviewing work progress, and evaluating the implementation of the Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) and livelihood restoration activities.

State Project Coordinator, Dr. Ibrahim Kabir, briefed the delegation on the scope of the erosion control intervention, the plantation project, and the rationale behind ongoing construction works.

The mission also featured interactions with community leaders and plantation workers, who reaffirmed their commitment to protecting the projects for the benefit of future generations.
