Former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, weekend, charged Christians and Nigerians to wage war against bad practices going on in the society.

He said the practice is pulling the country down, adding that  through their prayers and interventions, they can  make the society a better  place.

He stated that it is by taking the right steps that Nigeria and the world can be a better place.

Speaking as a special guest at the 50th convention of The Apostolic Church Nigeria (Lagos, Western, Midwest and Northern Areas LAWMNA Territory), held at church’s headquarters Olorunda, Ketu, Lagos, Sunday, the former president said he is in love with the theme of the convention which is “The Militant Church on Earth.”

He said if churches had put on their militant garment, things would have been better in Nigeria and the world.

He said his military background made him understand that being militant is to be zealous and active.

“Being a military man, I understand what militant is. It is being zealous, being active. But today in the world, in Africa and in Nigeria today, if the church is militant enough the situation will be different.

“If we have a militant church for now, a militant church of Christ on earth, the situation will be different. So, the theme of this convention is a challenge to all of us, and we all have something to do, we have contributions to make to make the world what God has created it to be, to make Nigeria what God has created it to be, a land flowing with milk and honey and not a land of poverty, not a land of insecurity.

“So children of God, we have a task ahead of us, we have a challenge ahead of us, and Jesus Christ expects us to fulfill our challenges and fulfill our duty and responsibility,” Obasanjo said.

Earlier, while introducing the former president, the immediate past TAC, LAWNA chairman, Pastor Gabriel Uyeh, described him as a leader committed to the emancipation of the people globally.
