The wife of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State, Dr Mrs Sekinat Bola Oyebamiji, on Sunday commissioned a solar-powered streetlight project at Alajue 2, Ward 5, in Ede South Local Government Area.

Mrs Oyebamiji described the initiative as part of efforts to improve security and support community development.

The project, executed under the AMBO Light Up Osun Initiative, was inaugurated in the company of the wife of the APC deputy governorship candidate, Princess Abimbola Adereti, alongside party leaders, community stakeholders and residents.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr Oyebamiji said the solar streetlight project reflected her husband’s commitment to grassroots development and improving infrastructure in communities across Osun State.

She said the initiative was designed to enhance security, encourage economic activities and provide a safer environment for residents and road users, adding that more community-based interventions would be implemented across the state if the APC wins the August 15 governorship election.

The Executive Chairman of Ede South Local Government, Hon. Kolawole Salami, who received the APC leaders, commended the initiative, saying the project would positively impact the lives of residents of Alajue and adjoining communities.

According to him, the installation of the solar streetlights would improve public safety, stimulate commercial activities at night and complement ongoing efforts aimed at improving the welfare of the people.

Salami also appreciated Dr Oyebamiji and Princess Adereti for identifying with the community, describing their visit as a demonstration of the party’s commitment to grassroots engagement.

Residents, party supporters, youth and women’s groups, as well as community leaders who attended the event, applauded the initiative and expressed optimism that it would improve security and socio-economic activities within the area.

The commissioning formed part of the activities of the APC campaign ahead of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State.
