Vice presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rotimi Amaechi has called on opposition political parties to be united so as to be able to defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027 general election.
Amaechi who spoke on Tuesday when he received a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN who came to console him on his mother’s death, stated that unity of the opposition is the only means by which the Tinubu administration could be voted out of office in the interest of the country and its citizens.
He urged the opposition to continue to explore various ways of cooperating as the election approaches, unless the incumbent would have a smooth ride back to power.
Amaechi recounted the many sacrifices that his parents, especially his mother, made in raising him and his siblings.
PDP in a statement by the National Publicity Secretary of the Interim National Working Committee (INWC), Ini Ememobong described the death of death of Dame Ezinne Mary Amaechi, mother of ADC vice presidential candidate as a great loss.
“Nothing prepares anybody for the loss of a parent, especially a mother.
“So we can only imagine the deep loss and grief that you and your family are going through.
“As a party on whose platform you served the good people of Rivers State as Speaker and later as governor, we share in your grief and encourage you to be strong, knowing the certainty of death and its role as a window to immortality,” the statement quoted Turaki.
