A Non-Governmental Organisation, RuffyEdwards Empowerment Initiative, has distributed nutritious food packs to more than 400 vulnerable children in Ibadan as part of efforts to combat childhood hunger and ease the burden on struggling families amid the prevailing economic hardship.

The intervention, carried out under the organisation’s Project Nourish Food Bank, benefited children in the Agugu community of Ibadan North East Local Government Area and the Ring Road area of Ibadan South West Local Government Area.

Speaking during the outreach, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the initiative, Princess Adedolapo Oni, said childhood hunger remains one of the biggest obstacles to children’s growth and education.

Oni stressed that the programme was designed to ensure vulnerable children have access to nutritious meals.

She explained that the beneficiary communities were selected after a needs assessment identified them as areas where support was most urgently required.

According to Oni, Project Nourish is a monthly intervention aimed at reducing hunger and malnutrition among vulnerable children, regardless of whether they are enrolled in school.

“Hunger should never define a child’s future. Every child deserves the chance to learn, grow and dream without worrying about where their next meal will come from.

“Through Project Nourish, we are doing more than distributing food — we are restoring hope, protecting dignity and giving children the opportunity to build a better future,” she said.

She commended the initiative’s donors, partners, and volunteers for sustaining the programme through their contributions, noting that their support has continued to make a meaningful difference in the lives of disadvantaged children.

She maintained that the organisation would continue expanding the reach of Project Nourish to ensure more vulnerable children receive the support they need.

The RuffyEdwards Empowerment Initiative said it remains committed to its vision of a future where no child is denied the opportunity to thrive because of hunger or poverty.
