A woman was rescued by local fishermen on Tuesday after she reportedly jumped into the Lagos lagoon from the Idumota-Carter Bridge in Lagos.

A video of the incident, shared on X by user @ChuksErice, showed the woman moments after she was brought out of the water.

She was seen seated in a wooden canoe as one of the fishermen paddled away from the bridge. The woman appeared dazed in the aftermath of the rescue.

The incident drew the attention of passers-by, many of whom stopped on the bridge to watch and speculate about what may have led to the incident.

In the video, a woman speaking in Yoruba was heard asking, “What were you thinking to that extent?”

Another bystander remarked, “I can never take my own life because of worries,” while someone else replied, “Pray you are never faced with such a situation.”

As of the time of filing this report, the circumstances surrounding the incident had not been established, and there was no official information on the woman’s condition after she was rescued.
