The Nigerian Army has arrested two serving soldiers for allegedly taking part in an unauthorised security operation during the wedding of popular Nigerian content creator Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, and fellow TikTok personality Jarvis in Lekki, Lagos.

According to reports, the soldiers were arrested on Tuesday after intelligence indicated they were deployed without official approval to provide security at the celebrity wedding held over the weekend.

The arrested soldiers were identified as Private Onasanya Ifeoluwa of the 81 Division Medical Services and Hospital (81DMSH) and Private Ukpai Onyinyechi, who is also attached to the same unit in Obalende, Lagos.

A military source said the two soldiers were arrested following credible intelligence linking them to the unauthorised deployment.

The source added that a preliminary investigation is ongoing to determine the level of their involvement and identify any other military personnel connected to the incident.

The arrests followed the circulation of videos from the wedding on social media showing men in military uniforms providing security and controlling access around some celebrity guests.

One of the videos allegedly showed a soldier escorting TikTok personality Ivanna through the crowd while acting as her security.

The footage sparked widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians questioning why serving military personnel were allegedly providing security at a private event involving celebrities and social media influencers.

Peller and Jarvis’ wedding attracted several entertainers, content creators and influencers, making it one of the biggest celebrity events of the weekend.

However, the celebration soon became controversial after videos showed men in military uniforms managing parts of the venue and escorting guests.

The Nigerian Army has repeatedly stated that serving personnel are not allowed to carry out private security duties or take part in deployments that have not been officially approved.
