No fewer than 176 women and children abducted during the February 3, 2026, attack on Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State have regained their freedom.

The Kwara State Government confirmed the development on Wednesday through a post on its official Facebook page, bringing an end to months of uncertainty over the fate of the victims.

The government wrote, “Alihamdulillaah and kudos to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, security forces, and everyone who played a role in this huge feat. We are grateful!”

The victims were taken away after suspected Boko Haram-linked extremists stormed the Woro and Nuku communities on motorcycles in a coordinated attack that reportedly lasted for several hours.

The incident remains one of the worst attacks recorded in Kwara State, with reports indicating that more than 200 people were killed, many others sustained injuries, homes and businesses were destroyed, and several residents were displaced.

Local vigilantes who confronted the attackers were reportedly overpowered during the assault, while some were allegedly trapped inside their office and burnt.
