Former Niger Delta Activist and one of the pioneers of the region’s struggles in the quest for resource control, Herbert Akaluogb, Wednesday,  expressed dismay over his non-inclusion in the pipeline surveillance contracts that was given to leaders of the struggle in the Niger Delta.

Akaluogb stated this while speaking to newsmen in Port Harcourt. He lamented that he and his group fought alongside  the ex militant leader, Asari Dukubo, during the first phase of the struggle  and were not captured in the federal government’s amnesty programme nor included in the pipeline surveillance contracts that was shared to leaders in the Niger Delta struggle .

 The ex-Niger Delta activist who also goes by the name “Oluo Governor” stated that all the leaders in the Niger Delta struggle knew him personally and the roles he played in the regional crises.

“King Asari Dokubo knows me in person,  and Ateke Tom knows me. 

“They know that I fought in the struggle. Fara Dagogo, Boyloaf and the GOC, High Chief Tompolo all know me in person,” he stated.   

Akaluogb, who is now confined to a wheelchair due to the spinal cord injury he sustained, expressed dismay that many of the beneficiaries of the amnesty programme and the pipeline surveillance contracts that was given out never participate in the struggle pointing out that when High Chief Tompolo called for a meeting of leaders of the struggle in his village in Delta state, he could not attend due his condition as one can only get to Tompolo’s village through the waterways.
