Bauchi State Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has declared that no individual, including members of his family, will be shielded from prosecution if found culpable of illegal mining activities.

Speaking on Tuesday while receiving the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, Jos, Major-General WM Dangana, at the Government House in Bauchi, the Governor directed security agencies to enforce the law without fear or favour.

“If my son or any other person is found guilty of illegal mining, the law should take its full course. Nobody should be spared,” Governor Mohammed said.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and tackling all forms of criminality, stressing that illegal mining would not be tolerated.

Mohammed also praised the Nigerian Army for its prompt response to recent security challenges in Alkaleri Local Government Area, noting that the intervention restored confidence among residents.

Earlier, Major-General Dangana said his visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration with the state government on security matters.

He commended the governor for supporting military operations and noted that the ongoing construction of Mansur Road in Alkaleri would enhance troop mobility and emergency response.
