TWO suspected armed robbers have been arrested by the operatives of the Lagos State Police Command during an operation with men of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria.

A locally-made cut-to-size dane gun and three live cartridges were also recovered from the suspects.

The suspects were identified as 32-year-old Arowolo (surname withheld) and 29-year-old Adewale (surname withheld). 

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the arrest in a statement to the Nigerian Tribune, on Tuesday.

Adebisi said: “As part of the sustained efforts to combat crime and criminality across Lagos State, operatives of the Lagos State Police Command, in collaboration with the local vigilante group, have arrested two suspected armed robbers and recovered a locally-made cut-to-size dane gun, as well as three live cartridges during a crime prevention patrol in Odogunyan area of the state.

“During the patrol, the operatives intercepted the two suspects, who were carrying a handbag and attempted to flee upon sighting the security team.

“They were swiftly apprehended, and a search conducted on the handbag in their possession led to the recovery of the locally-made cut-to-size dane gun and three live cartridges.”

The police spokesperson said the suspects are currently in custody, and would be charged to court upon concluding of investigation into their case.
