The Federal Government has urged Nigerians to unite in support of Miss Nigeria, Tamunosoye Karibi-George, as she prepares to represent the country at the 75th edition of the Miss World Pageant in Vietnam.

Speaking at a send-forth reception held in Abuja, the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, said Miss Nigeria’s participation goes beyond the pursuit of a beauty crown, describing it as a platform for cultural diplomacy, women’s leadership and national pride.

The Minister noted that the Miss World Pageant has evolved into a global platform that celebrates purpose, leadership, culture and social impact, providing an opportunity for young women to showcase their intellect, achievements and commitment to advancing gender equality.

She said Karibi-George would join 129 other national representatives at the historic 75th edition of the pageant, carrying Nigeria’s flag and representing the country’s rich cultural heritage on one of the world’s biggest international stages.

According to the Minister, Nigeria’s participation aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises youth development, women’s empowerment and projecting a positive national image globally.

“When this young woman walks onto that stage, she does not walk alone. She goes as a cultural ambassador. She carries the story of a nation and the aspirations of millions of Nigerian girls who will see in her the possibility of achieving their own dreams,” she said.

Sulaiman-Ibrahim stressed that the competition offers Nigeria an opportunity to promote its fast-growing creative economy, celebrate the intelligence and talents of Nigerian women, and strengthen the country’s international reputation.

She also assured Nigerians that the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development would provide full institutional support for Miss Nigeria throughout the competition, including her preparation, travel and welfare.

The Minister commended the Miss Nigeria Organisation, partner institutions and collaborating ministries for working together to ensure the country’s successful participation, describing the initiative as a whole-of-government effort.

She called on Nigerians to rally behind the country’s representative through prayers and encouragement, stressing that regardless of the outcome of the competition, Karibi-George had already earned the honour of telling Nigeria’s story to the world.

“Whether she wins or places, she has already achieved something of real significance. She has earned the right to remind the world of the beauty, brilliance and boundless potential of the Nigerian woman,” the Minister said.

She expressed confidence that Miss Nigeria would make the country proud and wished her success at the global pageant in Vietnam.
