Award-winning Nollywood director and producer Dimbo Atiya

A top Nollywood movie director, Dimbo Atiya, is dead.

Atiya reportedly died on Thursday morning, although the cause of his death has yet to be disclosed.

The founder of the Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards, Seun Oloketuyi, announced the filmmaker’s passing in a post shared on Instagram.

He wrote, “Dimba Atiya is dead. The top Nollywood director passed on this morning. Details later.”

Actor Mofe Duncan also mourned the director on Instagram, describing his death as a huge loss to the entertainment industry.

“God no, not Dimbo. I’m devastated. One of the greatest minds of the entertainment industry,” he wrote.

As of the time of filing this report, no official statement had been released on the circumstances surrounding Atiya’s death.

The news of his passing comes hours after reports emerged of the death of actress, Tope Osoba.
