Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi has called on the Methodist Church of Nigeria to remain steadfast in speaking truth to power and advocating for justice, good governance, and the welfare of Nigerians.

Obi made the call after attending the opening of the 50th/15th Biennial Conference of the Methodist Church of Nigeria in Ibadan on Wednesday, where he joined Seyi Makinde and Methodist faithful from across Nigeria and beyond.

Reflecting on the occasion, Obi expressed gratitude to God for His faithfulness to the Methodist Church over the years and highlighted Nigeria’s vast potential for growth and development.

He urged the Church and its delegates to continue standing with the suffering masses while serving as a strong voice of hope, conscience, and moral leadership, especially amid the nation’s current challenges.

Obi also appreciated the Methodist Church for inviting him to the conference and appealed to the congregation to keep Nigeria in their prayers.

He specifically urged the Church to pray that God would touch the hearts of political leaders, enabling them to prioritize the public good and use public resources responsibly for the benefit of all Nigerians.

The former Anambra State governor wished the Church a successful and fruitful conference, reiterating his signature message: “A New Nigeria is Possible.”
