The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed 12 establishments for violating environmental regulations in Lagos.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the agency announced the enforcement action in a statement posted on its official X handle on Thursday.

LASEPA said the affected establishments operated in the Ijora Causeway and Apapa areas of the state.

It said the facilities were sealed after persistently violating environmental regulations in spite of repeated warnings and abatement notices.

The agency said the establishments were also given several opportunities to comply with its directives before enforcement.

According to LASEPA, the facilities failed to implement corrective measures issued by the agency.

The sealed establishments include Helmar Building Materials at 8 Ijora Causeway, Ijora.

Others are Laprivad Nigeria Ltd. behind Funky Yetty along Ijora Causeway and Innocast Nigeria Ltd on Saka Alao Street, Apapa.

Also sealed was Body Language Shipping and Cargo, located on Liverpool Road, Apapa.

Others affected were Laodo Control Jetty on Creek Road and Adaps Nigeria Ltd on Solomon Agbontan Road.

Also sealed were Kehdi Equipments Ltd on Burma Road and Bulus Hotel on Kofo Abayomi Street.

Others are Park Inn Hotel on Caulcrick Road, Mandarin Supermarket on Warehouse Road, Hamada Enterprises and Infinity Pirelli Tyres, both on Warehouse Road.

LASEPA said the enforcement underscored its commitment to ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and protecting public health across the state.

The General Manager of LASEPA, Babatunde Ajayi, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to protecting public health and preserving the environment.

Mr Ajayi said LASEPA would sustain monitoring, compliance enforcement and implementation of environmental regulations across Lagos State.

He described environmental compliance as a collective responsibility requiring the support of businesses, organisations and residents.

Mr Ajayi said the agency would intensify enforcement against individuals and organisations whose activities endanger the environment and public wellbeing.

He urged business owners and facility operators to adopt environmentally responsible practices and comply with regulatory requirements.

Ajayi also encouraged residents to cooperate with LASEPA in building a cleaner, healthier and pollution-free Lagos.
