A trailer heavily laden with cattle overturned at the busy Dukku Junction in Gombe metropolis, causing a major traffic gridlock and attracting a large crowd to the scene.

The accident occurred while the truck was reportedly negotiating the junction, leaving some of the cattle trapped beneath the long vehicle, while others escaped.

Witnesses who spoke with our correspondent said residents and passersby immediately rushed to the scene to rescue the trapped animals and assist motorists caught in the ensuing traffic congestion.

One of the witnesses said, “The trailer was carrying cattle when it overturned while trying to negotiate the junction.

“Some of the cattle were trapped under the vehicle, while others managed to escape. People immediately gathered at the scene to rescue the animals and help control the situation.”

The accident caused significant disruption to vehicular movement in the area, with motorists forced to find alternative routes as the overturned trailer obstructed part of the road.

Another witness said, “The traffic became very heavy immediately after the trailer overturned. Vehicles could hardly move because the truck was blocking the road.”
