The Supreme Council of Tijaniyya Worldwide on Friday condoled with President Bola Tinubu over the passing of Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, the former leader of the Tijaniyya Islamic organisation in Nigeria, who died on November 26, 2025, at the age of 98.

A delegation of the council, drawn from Algeria, Nigeria and Senegal and representing more than 400 million members of the organisation worldwide, conveyed its condolences during a visit to the President at the State House, Abuja.

In a statement signed on Friday, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, said the delegation included members of the Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi Foundation, led by Khalifa Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi.

Dare disclosed that the condolence message was delivered by the Khalifa of Tijaniyya in Algeria, Sheikh Ali Bin Arabi.

Sheikh Ali Bin Arabi acknowledged the longstanding relationship and the social and economic similarities between Nigeria and Algeria, and pledged the continuity of the spiritual bond between the two countries.

He said, “We will continue to pray for the sustenance of the spiritual relationship between Nigeria and Algeria,” while praying for “peace and love in Nigeria” and for the President’s “physical and spiritual health.”

Responding, President Tinubu thanked the delegation for the condolence visit and paid tribute to the late cleric.

Tinubu said, “We miss our father, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi. He was a beloved father and a great leader.”

The President also commended the Tijaniyya movement for its spiritual activities across Africa and the rest of the world.

He added, “I respect you for what you are doing for Islam across Africa and the whole world. May God continue to guide you.”
