The Accord Party in Osun State has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of importing hackers to manipulate the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) digital system ahead of the August 15 governorship poll.

In a statement signed by Accord State Chairman Victor Akande, the party alleged that hackers from Lagos and Abuja had set up an operational base in a hotel in Osogbo, with plans to compromise INEC’s servers and insert fake results. 

Accord urged security agencies to raid the location and called on INEC to strengthen its ICT security against cyber threats.

The APC swiftly dismissed the claims. Party spokesperson Kola Olabisi described the allegations as “false and baseless,” insisting that APC’s candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, would win without resorting to electoral fraud. 

Olabisi argued that Accord’s accusations stemmed from fear of defeat.Accord, however, maintained its position, warning that any attempt to tamper with the polls would be resisted by the people. 

“We also call on security agencies to raid the GMT hotel and other illegal centers to stop the ongoing anti-democracy activities,” the party said.

INEC has cleared 14 political parties to contest the election, but the race is widely seen as a two-way contest between incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of Accord and APC’s Bola Oyebamiji.
