Over 250 residents of Amassoma have benefited from a free medical outreach organised by the Tinubu Torch Bearers, Bayelsa state chapter.

The outreach, led by its state coordinator, Dame Julie Donli, attracted many elderly residents seeking attention for eye-related conditions and other minor health concerns.

Children were also examined and provided with medications for common ailments, including malaria and cough, during the community-focused medical intervention.

Donli said the outreach was designed to bring healthcare closer to vulnerable residents and demonstrate the practical impact of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“Healthcare should not be a privilege reserved for those who can afford it. We must continue to take compassion and services directly to our communities,” she said.

She said the initiative reflected President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to improving healthcare access and strengthening primary healthcare delivery across Nigeria.

According to her, the Federal Government’s Nigeria Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative is focused on revitalising primary healthcare facilities and improving healthcare delivery.

“The Renewed Hope Agenda is about touching lives, and this outreach is our modest contribution to ensuring that vulnerable people are not left behind,” Donli said.

She added that the initiative demonstrated the Tinubu Torch Bearers’ commitment to grassroots engagement and practical interventions that directly benefit communities.

Donli expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for his Renewed Hope Agenda and commended Senator Oluremi Tinubu for her commitment to humanitarian causes.

She also praised Dr. Mary Alile Idele, APC National Woman Leader, for her passion, support, and encouragement towards initiatives aimed at improving the lives of Nigerians.

“Her leadership continues to inspire us to do more, especially at the grassroots, where the needs of ordinary Nigerians are most visible,” Donli said.

The state coordinator also appreciated HRH Chief Godwill Akedesuo, Acting Amananowei of Amassoma, and High Chief Arc. Ere Efeke for their moral and financial support.

Adding colour to the event was the presence of Dr. Genevieve Mordi, South-South Zonal Coordinator of the Tinubu Torch Bearers.

Mordi visited Amassoma to support and encourage the Bayelsa chapter while strengthening collaboration within the South-South zone.

Dr Genevieve Mordi also gave cash support to participants after they received medical attention, further enhancing the spirit of solidarity at the outreach.

Donli described Mordi’s presence as a demonstration of unity, solidarity, and shared commitment among members of the Tinubu Torch Bearers across the zone.

“The presence of our South-South Zonal Coordinator means a lot to us. It shows that we are united in service and committed to touching lives,” she said.

Beneficiaries expressed relief as they received medical attention, consultations, and medications without payment, particularly those who had experienced difficulty accessing healthcare services.

Donli said the outreach would encourage the organisation to continue exploring practical ways of supporting vulnerable Nigerians at the community level.

“For us, this is more than a medical exercise. It is hope translated into action, compassion turned into service and leadership brought closer to the people,” she said.

She said the successful outreach further demonstrated the Bayelsa Tinubu Torch Bearers’ commitment to grassroots-oriented interventions that promote the welfare and wellbeing of residents.

The Amassoma outreach, she added, represented another step towards building stronger communities through service, compassion, and collective responsibility.(NAN)
