President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Abdulrazaq Isa and Bala Wunti on their appointment as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, respectively, of the newly admitted World Energy Council (WEC) Nigeria.

President Tinubu described the establishment of WEC Nigeria as an important development that would strengthen Nigeria’s participation in global energy policy discussions.

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President praised Isa as a distinguished industrialist whose investments in indigenous refining and industrial energy had contributed to the growth of Nigerian enterprise.

He also described Bala Wunti as one of Nigeria’s leading energy strategists and reform champions, citing his more than three decades of service and contributions to reforms in the country’s energy sector.

According to the President, Wunti’s career has been characterised by integrity and strategic vision, with reforms that contributed to improved national revenues and renewed investor confidence in the sector.

Tinubu said the inaugural board, comprising experienced industry players, regulators, finance experts, academics and youth representatives, was well positioned to provide the neutrality and credibility needed to drive the council’s activities.

He expressed confidence that WEC Nigeria would provide a platform for policy dialogue, investment mobilisation and innovation in the energy sector.

The President assured the council of the Federal Government’s full support and urged the new leadership to work with WEC London and its international community to advance secure, affordable and sustainable energy.

He wished Isa, Wunti and the board members success in their new roles.
