Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has responded to comments by Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo about his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, while calling on President Bola Tinubu to ensure a free and fair governorship election in Osun State in a video shared on X on Friday ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

Davido made the remarks during a “VOTE, NOT FIGHT” campaign in Osogbo on Friday, ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

Reacting to Okpebholo’s comments about Governor Adeleke’s dancing, the singer said there was nothing wrong with dancing.

“Mr Monday Okpebholo, you don see small money now, your voice no dey shake again abi? You’re talking about my governor that all he does is dance. Is there any problem in dancing? Na because you no get talent na. You can talk anyhow,” he said.

Davido also praised the Adeleke administration, saying it had fulfilled promises made to the people of Osun State.

“I’m happy that the Osun people have stood with us and have stood firm. It’s not only because of Adeleke but because this government has been doing a good job. All the projects we promised, we’ve been delivering it,” he said.

The singer further appealed to President Bola Tinubu to ensure a credible election.

“Mr President, I came to see you personally in Abuja, and you promised me that you will give us a free and fair election,” he added.

PUNCH Online reports that Davido shared what appeared to be Okpebholo’s WAEC result on his Instagram Stories on Friday, following his remarks on Adeleke’s love for dancing

Although the singer did not add a caption to the post, it was widely interpreted as a response to the governor’s comments about Adeleke.

Davido had previously, on Thursday, joined Adeleke for a roadshow and campaign rally, where he appealed for a peaceful, free and credible poll, urging voters to reject violence, intimidation and electoral interference.
