Nigerian technology entrepreneur and founder of Jaradeals, Nicholas Nome, has explained how digital innovations are disrupting commerce and marketplaces, with Nigerian commerce lagging in this multimillion-dollar technological business that connects products and services across the world.

“My drive and passion are to develop Nigerian and African technology platforms tailored to local market needs, rather than relying solely on imported business models,” he said.

The software developer said this on Wednesday in Lagos while speaking about Jaradeals, a Nigerian online marketplace he founded that enables individuals, merchants, and businesses to buy, sell, advertise products and services, and connect with customers across Nigeria and beyond.

Nome stated that he has witnessed small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the country struggle with sales due to a lack of indigenous online platforms that fit well with what they do and that can help them reach new customers.

“Businesses today need more than just an online presence — they need visibility, accessibility, and tools that help them connect with customers. Jaradeals is that tool. It represents a different way of seeing and using e-commerce in Nigeria,” he said.

Nome revealed that, with Jaradeals, he has a long-term vision of supporting and contributing to Nigeria’s growing online economy.

The technology entrepreneur spoke about the competition in Nigeria’s e-commerce industry, which he said is continuously growing and shaping the way buyers and sellers transact business online.

On the other hand, he said Jaradeals remains a user-friendly marketplace that will continue to offer merchant adoption, customer trust, product execution, and will also be sensitive to the changing needs of Nigeria’s digital economy.

Nome noted that his broader entrepreneurial portfolio includes Paynownow, a financial technology company he established in 2020. Before Paynownow, he launched Saybaba in 2014 and later rebranded it into Sellsbaba in 2018.

“Jaradeals builds on those earlier experiences while reflecting how digital commerce has evolved in recent years,” he added.
