The Kebbi State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has refuted news reports making rounds that it has endorsed Governor Nasir Idris or is backing the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 elections.
Debunking the purported report, the party said claims that some associates of the embattled PDP National Chairman, Kabiru Turaki, had endorsed Idris as their candidate for the 2027 governorship race are false, misleading, and without basis.
In an official statement dated August 8, Kebbi PDP Chairman Usman Bello Suru affirmed the party’s unity and independence ahead of the election.

Suru emphasised that the PDP in Kebbi is united and remains in full support of all its candidates for the upcoming elections.
He urged party members and supporters to disregard circulating rumours aimed at creating confusion.
“The PDP in Kebbi State is one and united. It is in full harmony with all its candidates contesting in the upcoming elections,” Suru stated.
He called on party members to focus on uniting the electorate and strengthening the party, asserting that those spreading false rumours have no authority over the PDP in Kebbi.
Suru further noted that the party has candidates for the State House of Assembly in all 21 local government areas, for the House of Representatives across all eight federal constituencies, for the Senate in the three districts, and a gubernatorial candidate.
He concluded that the array of candidates underscores the PDP’s status as a fully established and independent political entity in Kebbi.
