Gabriel Afolayan, the Nigerian actor, has weighed in on the long-running feud between twin brothers Peter and Paul Okoye, claiming their disagreements date back to 2005.

Afolayan shared his personal experience with the duo in an X post on Saturday, reflecting on the history of their disputes.

According to him, the former Psquare members had issues with song selection as far back as the “Get Squared” era, particularly over which tracks should make it onto their albums, with “Jude Okoye as the decider”.

“The Psquare story that I know dated back to 2005 (Get Squared era) at EKO Reelmix studio,” he wrote.

“They’ve always had issues with songs selection for any album they intend to release. Argument on whose songs should be picked more, and Jude has always been a decider of that.”

Afolayan said the disagreement was not a recent development, claiming the brothers had similar issues throughout their most successful years.

He also alluded to tensions involving the brothers’ marriages, suggesting there was more to the long-running dispute than their music.

“This fight don tey no be today. All through their prime era,” he added.

“And the marriage thing, chai talk bokku…”

Psquare, made up of Peter and Paul, became one of Africa’s biggest music acts after rising to prominence in the early 2000s.

The duo released several successful albums and hit songs before their relationship deteriorated over the role of Jude, their elder brother, as their manager, eventually leading to their split in 2017.

The brothers later reunited in 2021 and held their first headline concert in December that year.

However, in 2024, Paul confirmed that the group had split again. He alleged that Peter was involved in his arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Earlier in April, Peter announced that he had officially changed his birth date to November 30. In recent weeks, he also accused Paul of trying to damage his reputation.

Last week, Peter accused Jude of excluding him from proceeds from their music catalogue, including a $25,000 payment, and alleged that he was not a signatory to one of the accounts used to collect their royalties.

Jude denied the allegations, while Paul announced that he is distancing himself from the feud.

Henry Okoye, another elder brother of the twins, also blamed Jude for the longstanding family rift.
