The Oyo State governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Bimbo Adekanmbi, has called on members of the Arewa community in Ibadan to support the party and its candidates in the forthcoming elections.

Adekanmbi made the call during the commissioning of the APM Arewa Community Campaign Office at the Adamasingba Shopping Complex, Sabo, Ibadan.

Represented at the event by a party chieftain and Deputy Chief of Staff to the Oyo State Governor, Hon. Kazeem Adeyinka, the APM governorship candidate commended members of the Arewa community for their continued support for the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde.

He urged them to consolidate the relationship by voting for APM candidates, saying their support would be critical to the party’s performance at the polls.

Adeyinka, who spoke on behalf of Adekanmbi, said the commissioning of the campaign office demonstrated the party’s growing acceptance within the Arewa community.

He particularly commended the unity among the various groups within the community in the Sabo area, saying such unity had strengthened the party’s confidence in securing strong support during the elections.

“The unity among the various groups within the Arewa community in Sabo has given us confidence that APM will record a strong performance here during the elections,” he said.

Also speaking, the Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Seun Olufade, highlighted some of the projects executed by his administration, saying the interventions were aimed at improving the living conditions of residents, including members of the Arewa community.

Olufade said the council had constructed the major road linking Jemibewon Road to Sabo, describing the project as an important intervention that had improved movement and connectivity within the area.

He added that the local government had provided several boreholes and installed streetlights in parts of the community to improve security, reduce night-time criminal activities and enhance residents’ movement at night.

According to him, the council had also recently provided a transformer to the Arewa community as part of efforts to improve electricity supply and support economic activities in the area.

Olufade pledged that his administration would continue to extend development projects and other interventions to communities across Ibadan North, assuring the Arewa community that it would remain a beneficiary of government programmes.

He subsequently appealed to residents to support APM candidates in the forthcoming elections, arguing that continued support for the party would provide the necessary political backing to sustain government interventions and democratic dividends in the area.

The commissioning attracted several political leaders and candidates, including the member representing Ibadan North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle; the member representing Ibadan North Constituency I in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Olufunke Comforter; APM Governorship Campaign Director, Women’s Wing, Hon. Ramata Agberemi Dabo; and Director, Youth Wing of the APM governorship campaign, Hon. Kazeem Bolarinwa, among others.
