Tinubu to declare open security, national unity conference in Abuja August 13

President Bola Tinubu is set to declare open an international conference on security and national unity on August 13.

The event, organised by Jama’atu Izalatil Bidiah wa Iqamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS Nigeria) in collaboration with the Muslim World League of Saudi Arabia, will hold at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja.

The conference is themed “International Conference on Security for Sustainable Socio-economic Development”.

A statement by Garbadeen Mohammad, chairman of the conference’s media and publicity committee, said the event will examine Nigeria’s security challenges, including banditry and kidnapping, as well as their impact on socio-economic development.

He added that the conference will feature high-level plenary sessions on national security and socio-economic development within a broader global context.

Other sessions, he said, will focus on diversity and inclusive coexistence, while expert panels will examine strategies for countering terrorism and armed banditry and strengthening community resilience.

“The programme will also include global partnership roundtables aimed at advancing sustainable socio-economic development,” he said.

“The gathering would provide a platform for participants to exchange ideas and strengthen partnerships towards achieving peace, stability and sustainable development.”

The conference will begin at 9am on August 13 and end at 2:30pm on August 14.

A national preaching session will follow at the JIBWIS headquarters in Utako, Abuja, on the evening of August 14 and continue through the night.

Participants are expected to depart for their respective destinations on August 15.

Sa’ad Abubakar, Sultan of Sokoto, will serve as the royal father of the day.

State governors, ministers, members of the national and state assemblies, Islamic scholars, traditional rulers, diplomats, captains of industry, members of the Muslim ummah from Nigeria and beyond, as well as the general public, are expected to attend.
